Tivoli's object-based technology for distributed systems management is used to manage open, heterogeneous, rapidly changing client/server environments reliably and efficiently.

Tivoli has linked Compaq Insight Management Agents to TME 10 through its Tivoli/Sentry and Tivoli/Enterprise Console (T/EC) applications. The T/EC is a powerful automation application that provides rules-based event correlation for integrating network, systems, database, and applications management. Tivoli/Sentry manages distributed resources by configuring and monitoring parameters and automatically initiating corrective actions.

A Compaq-oriented Sentry monitoring collection has been developed to watch more than 40 critical performance and system status parameters on each Compaq server managed. When a performance threshold is exceeded, an alert is sent to the T/EC for action.

COMPAQ INSIGHT MANAGER

Compaq has led the industry in making servers and desktops easy to manage. Compaq Insight Manager is an intelligent management tool that constantly monitors and analyzes critical information provided by Compaq Insight Management Agents. The agents provide detailed performance, configuration, and fault management for a large number of Compaq systems on your network. In fact, they monitor more than 1,000 server and desktop parameters. Because they are SNMP-based, the agents integrate readily into leading systems management applications.

The integration of Compaq Insight Management Agent data with TME 10 enables proactive management of Compaq systems.

Using the combination of TME 10 and Compaq Insight Management Agents, you can monitor and control key elements in your Compaq environment and beyond, including hardware, operating systems, applications, and database software. The number of Compaq systems? It doesn't matter. It can be hundreds, even thousands.
