What's New

ProSignia 300The small workgroup server that delivers true server functionality for the price of a desktop PC.

Compaq enhances the ProSignia 300 family of small workgroup servers with the 150MHz Pentium processor delivering true server performance and functionality at desktop prices. The 150MHz Pentium processor delivers greater processor performance, up to 18% faster than the 120MHz Pentium processor (Intel iComp benchmark), increasing performance for customers with compute-intensive network applications.

Instead of paying for costly desktop features, like high-resolution video and integrated audio, ProSignia 300 customers receive features like Integrated 32-bit Fast-SCSI-2/P Controller and an integrated 32-bit Ethernet Controller, that deliver faster response time when users access files from the server. Instead of a computer optimized for running Windows desktop applications, the ProSignia 300 has been optimized for running network operating systems like NetWare. Users will find true server features, like Automatic Server Recovery and ECC memory that desktop computers lack, make the ProSignia 300 a more dependable server platform.

The ProSignia 300 5/150 provides Full-Spectrum Fault Management; including: Fault Prevention that keeps errors from occurring; Fault Tolerance which prevents errors from disrupting the operation of the server; and Fault Recovery which helps return a server to operation after a fault disrupts service. The ProSignia 300 supports the Standby Recovery Server and the On-Line Recovery Server to add even more fault management to ProSignia 300 servers. With this option, one ProSignia server can act as a standby for another, taking over in the unlikely event of a hardware or software failure. For an even more cost-effective solution, Compaq now allows a ProSignia server to act as the idle server for a ProLiant server in the Standby or On-Line mode.

Compaq Insight Manager and SmartStart are standard, increasing the dependability and manageability of the server. SmartStart builds a tested and reliable platform for the server while Compaq Insight Manager makes the server easy to manage, across the network or from remote locations.

A Rack-Mounting Kit is available as an option, allowing customers to install ProSignia 300 servers in rack enclosures.

The new ProSignia 300 5/150 follows through on the ProSignia 300 tradition of delivering a high-performance, aggressively priced server for small networks.
